Pork is still on the menu in the state Legislature.
The Assembly has quietly posted a new list of “legislative initiatives” using funds that are more than a decade old. The 956-page list includes requested allocations from the old Community Project Fund. Projects include $5,000 for a Memorial Day Parade, $50,000 to restore a replica cargo ship and $50,000 toward a trolley system. Once approved, the funding is administered by various state agencies.
It’s safe to assume the Senate has its own slush fund, but it is not clear where they’re posting that information because it is not on their Open Data page.
